3 wishes

erez

Consider yourself forewarned, this posting is going to come across as incredibly shallow, self involved, materialistic and less than attractive. Nonetheless, a girl's gotta be honest every once in awhile.

A few months ago, when thirty still felt fairly far off, I decided that I must own three things prior to the big birthday: a phone that checks email, my first pair of real designer sunglasses and a "grown up" watch. (And though there are many other things I want to achieve, among them a career with meaning, a healthy marriage and some type of plan for a family of our own, this is not the posting for that.)

Shortly after David left for Iraq, I found myself at the mall in the middle of a pity party, taking home a pair of Versace glasses that would make Nicole Ricci proud. A few months later, I took the plunge and got an iPhone and can honestly say that my life has much improved since. However, with my birthday only 6 months away and not many job opportunities in sight in Norfolk, I was about to throw in the towel when it came to a grown up watch. Just when I was ready to admit defeat, the new J Crew catalog arrived in the mail.

And though it is just a Timex, this might be just the answer to my third and final wish. And though it might just whet my appetite and tide me over for a few years, maybe adding the striped band to my shopping cart will prolong the satisfaction.

well heeled

erez

We're in a season in our lives where I can't have these. (And by season, I don't mean transitioning from winter to fall. If only!)
And even if I could, I have to tell myself that I couldn't walk in them, anyway.

So as much as the idea of them makes me smile, I must remind myself that wearing them, in fact, probably wouldn't.

But other than that, are they not perfect?

yes, please

After a few less-than-inspired seasons of offerings, I'll take this and this from Banana's Spring 2009 line. I guess their designers also had grown tired of 80's retro cocktail patterns in horrible fabrics. I know that I am not alone in celebrating their return to refined editing.

an a capella delight

orange_sport_coat

I just finished reading Pitch Perfect, one of the titles I discussed a few days ago.

How fitting that the all male Clemson "Tiger Roar" group sang a very stylized version of the National Anthem before the game tonight. I don't know if they'll be winning the NCCA's anytime soon (yes, that is the actual acronym of the yearly collegiate choral competition), but they sure did look snazzy in their orange blazers.

I'll have to get one for David as soon as he returns. Minus the green vest, of course.

wonder if i could keep from eating it?

Searching for a gift for a dear friend's upcoming 30th birthday, I wanted to give her something that said: "I might be older, but I've got enough fun left in me to spare." I found this necklace on etsy.

It reminds me of the candy necklaces that never made it home from school with me as a 5th grader. I think I could wear one for all of 5 minutes before I started to chew.

This one might be a bit better for the new decade - both for our fashion sense and our diets. As long as I've tried to put off accepting that the statement applies to me, it is, nonetheless, perfect for the "young at heart."

just when i thought i had enough orange in my closet

Today, Mom, Daddy and I went to see the Clemson Tigers basketball team go to 16-0.
I also received the new J Crew Catalog.
Coincidence? I think not.

one. orange pattern ballet flats
two. orange gwendolyn dress - is the poof on the shoulder not just too perfect?
